Working on my X- Men idea.
so I was brainstorming why the X-Men would have costumes in the MCU, to me they are representing humans discriminated against for having extra powers. So, to emphasize this I was thinking that none of the Mutants should have costumes, or most. But then I remembered, Xavier dressed them up like superheroes to win public trust.
Maybe in the MCU Xavier designs their uniforms to look like Captain America to align them with the Avengers in the public’s mind. Still not sure why he would turn his students, there to safely learn, into soldiers though. Facilitating the need for uniforms.
this is a rough mock up I will paint over.

For my portfolio. How I imagine Stargirl’s Sandy Hawkins, the new Sandman. Like Luke Wilson’s Pat, Sandy was a sidekick. I imagine an actor of the same age. This look is to give a pro hitman vibe and trying to be his own Sandman. Not just copy Dodds. Eventually though, as time progresses he becomes more secure and starts wearing fedoras and trench coats.
Hey, what about his sand form? Do you guys want that in the show? Do you think it wouldn’t work or be too much cg? What if it was like only when he was hurt. Like shot, the bullets go through his clothes but no blood just sand burst out. Or when he is cut, instead of blood there could be sand. Or if he jumps on a bomb, his clothes are blown up and he is all over the room but he pulls himself back together. “Heals” as fast as Wolverine. The sand would then only be seen briefly. Thoughts?

When I got an Exclusive to meet the Producers of Young Justice a week or two before Comic Con I immediately started on these for my portfolio. These are DC characters drawn in their style. Beth Chapel, Dr. Midnite. Hank Hall, Hawk, the avatar of War. And two designs for Mark Shaw, Manhunter.

In the case of Hawk’s very different design, in the comics Hawk and Dove are the avatars of War and Peace, and transform into Hawk and Dove by calling their names, why not make their costumes more organic.

Well, I tried. Here is another #StyleChallenge. An attempt at #FrankQuitely’s style. My first art of the new year.
This time it was hard. I feel like to make it look like me it wouldn’t look like his style, but to look like his style it wouldn’t (and doesn’t) look like me. I really like his style, and had fun examining it. Frank Quitely, for those unaware, is the artist of Allstar Superman, New X-Men, Jupiter’s Legacy, Batman and Robin (when Nightwing became Batman and Damien became Robin), and JLA Earth 2.
